Aryami was there to warn Mr. Despite monsoon-force rains and terrible danger lurking around every street corner, the young lieutenant manages to get them to safety, but not without losing his own life. At the orphanage, Ben had a family, the other orphans. The book primarily focuses on Ben.

The Midnight Palace 2 stars 16 year old twins, Ben and Sheere, are reunited after being separated at birth by a terrible set of circumstances that took the life of their mother. I have to admit that I’ve skimmed through the last 40 pages-I just don’t understand why Jawahal had to make everything so freaking complicated. Why did Dad kidnap Ben’s friends and tie them up? I am not in any way compensated for this review shucks. Also keep in mind this is a Spanish to English translation, and I realize how tough it is to retain nuance and other subtleties in a translation.

The Midnight Palace

Un espectro de fuego siembra el terror en las sombras de la noche. Este livro foi escrito ainda o autor era um jovem escritor The first part of this book was a bit shaky, I will have to admit.

Other books in the series. Couldn’t the author find a way to show, not tell?

El Palacio de la Medianoche by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Trivia About The Midnight Pala One of the things that annoyed me the most about that book was that it was so vague, completely failing to establish any sense of time or place, and providing very little explanation of the villain’s origins.

The ending,on the other hand,I actually really liked. Looking at it from their eyes, it will certainly enthrall and frightening them.

There were portions of this book that bored me to tears. My only complain about Midnight Palace is that it’s set in India, which is as exotic a setting as you can get. Years later, tuiz the eve of Ben and Sheere’s sixteenth birthday, the mysterious threat reenters their lives. How can Ben and Sheere have a mystical connection because they were twins separated at birth? They were newborns when their mother died—their father earlier—, and they were saved by Peake, a young British lieutenant who loved their mother.

Like,stop being so dramatic,dude.

El Palacio de la Medianoche

If you’ve been dealing with an apparently invincible enemy, with demonic powers and super-strengths, the “game” would not be something that you’d expect. It was difficult to follow. Carter saw himself facing the man again, he was sure Aryami was telling the truth. I’m so in love with all of Carlos’ books.

This book is not yet featured on Listopia. But she knew his spirit was hunting his children to kill one of them. I must say, I did figure out the “who dunnit” element long before the book was nearing completion, mainly because it’s a totally “Zafon” thing to do.

Esta vez somos llevados a la ciudad negra, Calcuta del siglo XX, donde un hombre huye, protegiendo la vida de dos bebes a los que el destino les dicto una suerte no deseada por nadie.

Maybe I’ll read his next YA translation due May ! I’ve read all of Zafon’s previous works, and always, the part which I look forward to – the best thing about his novels, for me – is the suspense. But I did genuinely like the ending, which seemed oddly melancholy and downbeat for a teen book.

Sometimes the difference between them is hard to see, but in the end time will show you that the cards you have been dealt could always have been worse. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. The Midnight Palace is an emotional roller coaster. A man pauses for breath outside the ruins of Jheeter’s Gate station knowing he has only hours to live. Be the first to ask a question about El Palacio de la Medianoche.

The ones who see horror in the heart of their fellow humans and search for peace at any price? But then I came across a copy in the library, and couldn’t resist giving this a try, knowing it wouldn’t take me long to read.
